In eastern Cuba, families have faced power outages and shortages before, but nothing like the damage unleashed by Hurricane Melissa’s 120-mile-an-hour winds, which flooded communities and fields, destroyed homes and left clinics without live-saving supplies. Over 700,000 people were evacuated with no loss of life, thanks to effective disaster preparedness.

But neighborhood doctors and nurses on the front lines in the hardest-hit communities of Santiago de Cuba, Holguín, Granma and Guantánamo provinces need our support now to respond to their patients’ urgent needs.

That’s why MEDICC is partnering with Global Links to rush essential medical supplies to these health care providers dedicated to caring for newborns, women, the elderly and their families.
